For this Unicorn-themed birthday party, we celebrated Baylor (9) and Katie (5). The venue was their dad's house, which was perfect for the chosen activities!

The backyard was the main hub for activities while the food and desserts were kept inside. Baylor and Katie's dad has a collection of beautiful, old trucks which were parked around the yard to add to the decor. One of the trucks (the girls' favorite) was decorated with marquee numbers, 5 & 9 to represent the girls' ages, a star, and balloons. The marquee numbers and star were provided by Alpha Lit Houston, who offers the highest quality marquee letters to customize any event. The balloon display was created by yours truly :) LOVE those pastel colors! The balloons were purchased through Amazon - 24in balloons, 36in balloons and pastel balloon garland. The garland kit is super easy DIY! Adding those big balloons is a bonus!!!!

The birthday girls' adorable matching unicorn dresses were under $30! So cute, right?!

Pastel colors, shiny materials and of course, unicorn confetti were used to set the tone. The cake table consisted of 3 cakes, two personalized unicorn cakes and one beautiful centerpiece cake, made by Butter Baby Bakery, the butteriest bakery located in Magnolia, TX, known for their designer style cakes and uniquely paired flavors.

You can find the Happy Birthday Unicorn Backdrop , prop backdrop stand (that I use for EVERYTHING!!!) and cake table rainbow tulle table skirt here.

Surrounding the cake table were desserts and party favors. Desserts included cotton candy unicorn horns, unicorn cake pops, rainbow marshmallows, cookies, unicorn gummies and lollipops. The party favors were bags of "unicorn poop" (marshmallow candy), glitter rainbow unicorn headbands, and disposable unicorn face masks (thanks Covid!). The adorable cake pops were made by Sweet Crave, who is Houston-based and creates beautiful cakes and styled desserts.

The food consisted of a variety of individualized sandwiches and was catered by Jimmy Johns. Chips and pickles were also served on the side. Pink lemonade and juice were served for the kids and the adults had Rock Candy Champagne! Lemonade was served in Happy Birthday cups created by Jen Loves Paper, who specializes in personalized party supplies, party goods and monogrammed gifts for special events.

Now for the FUN STUFF! The activities chosen for this particular party were

The unicorn rides and decorate the unicorn were provided by Platinum Carriage Co. & Pony Parties, who provides beautifully decorated horses and ponies for any event. This is definitely worth the splurge as it provides entertainment and fun for hours and gives you an opportunity to get great photos to remember!

Face painting was done by GG's Face Painting. I can't express how fabulous her work is! The kids were super impressed and even made comments saying it was the best face paint they had ever had!

TWO pinatas were purchased because we were celebrating TWO girls, of course!

The unicorn painting was definitely a hit. We placed a unicorn decal in the center of blank, white canvases and let the girls paint with watercolors to create a unicorn masterpiece of their desire. When dry, we removed the decal and wrote their name in gold, and they had a beautiful personalized unicorn painting to take with them. The unicorn decals were created by Speed Pro, Magnolia, who offers a full range of products and services including large format printing. They always do an amazing job!

Additional magical decor was placed around the party, including mini unicorn pinatas, a YOU ARE MAGICAL banner and Happy Birthday unicorn banner and of course, sparkle rainbow unicorn confetti!

At the end of the day, the mini unicorns had a ball and we captured a few fun photos to wrap it up.

PARTY WAYS TO SAVE

  1. Create your own invitations - we created the invite on Canva and text them to the guests.

  2. Use items you have around the house - we used dressers for a cute dessert table set up, we used special trucks for added decor.

  3. Purchase food from local grocery store or Sam's in bulk - we bought chips and pickles from HEB instead of adding them on to the catering bill

  4. Party favors can be from an activity you do at the party as a gift to take with them, or wrapped treats left over from the party.

XOXO,

Carrie
